"Our loving Father, may our hearts be responsive to your invitation, and may we open the door to let you in. When temptation assails may we realize how near you are, and bid you come in. When impatience and anger are within may we bid you enter, and by your presence drive them out. In Christ's name. Amen."

February 8

"Eternal and omnipotent God, we realize the greatness of your power, not only in your wonderful love, but in your judgement of sin. We pray you that we may be among those who are saved from wrongdoing. Will you provide the ark of safety for those who are now in danger. We ask this in the Saviour's name. Amen."

February 7

"Our blessed and loving Father, give to us, we pray you, the knowledge of the awfulness of sin. Teach us how that those who live today in apparent quietness as the results of sin live to-morrow in dire destruction and wickedness. Save us from evil, and may we overcome it with good. Amen."

(Blogger's note: this not only applies to those sinners who go unpunished for a time, but to those who remain silent as to sin. There's a saying, I think, to the effect of: "Those who remain silent to sin become accomplices to it.")

Sundays - February

"Our great God and loving Father, may we estimate your day with the sacred value you have given to it, and prepare for its temporal needs beforehand. May we remember that this rule of preparation applies to those in our households as well as to us, and may our servants see and know that we honor your holy day. In Christ's name. Amen."

February 6

"Blessed and pure Master, show us your purity that with pure eyes we may see you. Save our cities, we pray you, from the awful spread of crime and immorality. May those who ruin life perish before they bring upon themselves greater condemnation, but save them if it be your will, for Christ's sake. Amen."

February 5

"Our gracious God and loving Father, we thank you that the blood of Christ your Son cleanses us from all sin. We thank you that just as ancient Israel brought the lamb as a sacrifice to the altar to receive forgiveness at the hands of the priest, so Jesus Christ, our great High Priest, has offered his own life that our sins might be eternally forgiven. Amen."

February 4

"O God, we praise you for your power to accomplish all you undertake. We praise you that your spoken word never fails. May we claim and appreciate your promise without fear or doubt, and may we, too, be known as the friends of God. Amen."
