"Our loving Father in heaven, for all your goodness to us we thank you, and we pray that we may honor and revere your great and holy name. May we so reverence you that your name may ever awaken in us a sense of devotion, and never be used carelessly. May your day be a day of privilege, rather than a day of limitation, and may we look forward to it with anticipation and joy. In the Saviour's name. Amen."

October 31

"Most holy and ever-loving God, we thank you that human enemies cannot overcome those who follow your commands and put their trust in you. We thank you also that the weakness of our faith and our frail courage and despondency do not hinder you from showing us your salvation and protecting us. And we give you praise and thanksgiving in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen."

"Eternal and infinite God, lead us out of the slavery of sin into the freedom of loving service. If you lead us by the way of the wilderness may we ever see your cloud by day and your pillar by night. In Jesus' name. Amen."

"Gracious Lord and Master, may your presence today and every day save us from the sins of our own selfish hearts. May we enter into your life in all things. Will you enter our life, dispelling all tendencies which are impetuous and unkind. May we enter the rooms of peace and quietness daily through yourself, the Door, and thus may we honor you. Amen."
