"Give to us, our heavenly Father, a desire to help others. We have entered upon a new day for you. As we bow before you at this family altar may we remember that there are those in the world who have not had our privileges of knowing you. If we are stronger in faith or character, may we use our strength to help those who are weak, and do it joyfully for Christ's sake, denying ourselves. Amen."

"God of wisdom and might, we pray you to make us wise unto salvation. May we sit at the feet of Christ and learn of him. May we search for wisdom as for hidden treasure. As the Christ-child grew in wisdom daily amid life's common tasks, so may we. In his name. Amen."

"In seeking to multiply your work, our loving Father, may we learn that no fruit can grow where the life is separated from you by keeping your word in our hearts. May it be our wish to know your will, and may obedience become our natural inclination because your life is within us. In Jesus' name. Amen."

"We thank you that your throne, O God, is for ever and ever. Help us with you to love righteousness and hate iniquity. May we value your steadfast Word, and never let it slip. Help us to see Jesus. May he be crowned with glory and honor in our lives from day to day. Amen."

"Our gracious and loving Father, we are grateful that you have given to us such a wonderful illustration of self-sacrifice in Jesus Christ your Son. We thank you that he never thought of himself, but always regarded life as valuable only in so far as he could give us his own pleasures for the good of others. Teach us to be like him. We pray for his sake. Amen."

"O loving Father in heaven, you are so patient with us. We thank you for your great silences of love; we thank you that you do not reprove us at the wrong time, but win us to yourself by your mercy and quiet thoughtfulness. Help us to be patient with our fellow men, and to win them by love. In Christ's name. Amen."

"O Thou who ever lovest little children, we thank you that you did become a child in the person of your only Son. We thank you that he took the children in his loving arms to bless. Give to us the vision and faith of your servants of old, and bless our children from their very babyhood. Amen."

"Help us, O Father, to be true to our Lord in doing life's little things well. May we know that we are doing Christ's wish in keeping our room in order, or in studying each lesson faithfully. May we live each today as if tomorrow's success depended entirely upon it. In Christ's name. Amen."

"May we, our Father, learn to do your will each day from a sense of desire prompted by your love. Teach us to look fortard to your great day when you shall come. May we take heed "what manner of persons" we ought to be, "in all holy living and godliness." May we hasten that day, and be found, ourselves, without spot or blemish. In Jesus' name. Amen."

"Our dear Father and our God, for the love and the faith of the past we thank you. For those who gave us to you before we could give ourselves, we thank you. May we give to our children the heritage of godliness. May we train them to prepare the way for others to know and love your Son. Amen."

"O you who hears prayer and answers in love and forgiveness, may we never lose the blessed association of your friendship through idle reason or criticism. Save us from merely seeing and hearing, but may we be among those who lead the helpless and suffering to you that they may rise and walk. Amen."

"O Lord, our Leader, you have inspired us by the life call of humble fishermen, faithfully doing their duty. Teach us to fall before you in our very weakness. Then may we follow you with sacrifice and completeness. Make us all fishers of men. Amen."

"Our Father, we are grateful that your are impartial in your selection of disciples - that you see in a man what he may become, instead of passing him by unnoticed in his present state. May your call today lead to immediate surrender many who control the affairs of life. Amen."

"May we learn to remember, our loving Father, that you have not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us as we deserve. As forgiven children may we forgive as we have been forgiven, and ever be plenteous in mercy. In Christ's name. Amen."

"O you who are our loving Father, teach us, we pray you, to give our best joyfully to you. May we seek first our kingdom, and give you first place in our lives. May each day have our first and best moments for you, that we may glorify you more and more. For Christ's sake. Amen."
