"Unseen and eternal God, you who are silent when others speak, and who speaks when others are silent, help us use our tongues rightly to speak whey you would have us. Help us to control our lips when we are tempted to say the unkind or unnecessary word. For your name's sake. Amen."

"Guard our lips, O Christ, from falsity. Keep the door of our lips. May our mouths show forth your praise by being sincere and accurate in our truth-telling. May we realize that a word spoken for effect damages the speaker as well as the hearer. Amen."
